Director's Reports

President - Dick Jones:

  • Freshman Council will be organized the second week of school.

  • Final Council Retreat plans will be announced Thursday, as well as attendance sign-ups and such.
    • If we have an overage of students attending, seniority(in council) will take affect.

Vice President - Adam Pfendt:

  • E-Expo:
    • Schedule is being prepared.
    • High School contact information is being gathered.
    • EDAC & ESAC will be meeting ASAP

Director of Administration - Travis Cook:

  • New website awaiting ACM hosting.
  • Awaiting a News listserve refresh from the Dean's office.
  • Freshman Representative elections will be 5th week of Fall.
  • Constitutional Revision Committee is being reformed.

Director of Corporate and Alumni Relations - Matt McConnell:

  • Bill Hammock requests only reimbusrstment of travel funds.
    • Requesting funds from SGA Speaker Fund.

Director of Finance - Jordan Malof:

  • Working on a shared Google document to streamline food/supply requests.

Director of Public Relations - Mary Soltys:

  • DOPR Committee Meeting is Friday @ noon.
  • Mary needs T-Shirt designs!

Director of Student Activities - Michele Harpring:

  • Society Picnic - September 4th 11:00-1:30pm.
  • Cheap Lunch's TBA.

Director of Student Affairs - Laura Harpring:

  • Study Jam's will begin next week! (Mondays 5:30-8:30, Wednesday 6:30-8:30, location TBA)
  • Will be talking with Matt Bergman about promoting Scholarships.
  • DOSAF Committee Meeting is next week.

Faculty Advisor - Dr. Gerald Willing:

  • This Semester, Speed School will be undergoing University Assessment.

Announcements:

  • We'll be asking all Directors and Societies to introduce themselves at the first meeting.
  • Representatives will be sworn in this Thursday.
  • Next Week's Meeting will involve Food.

  • Will speak with Freshman after meeting regarding Freshman Council.
  • We've invited Brian Hoffman & Dean Wilhelm to meeting on Thursday.

Vice President - Adam Pfendt:

  • We now have the High School mailing information, will be getting that together.
  • Forming EDAC and ESAC now. Contact Adam if interested.

Director of Administration - Travis Cook:

  • Fall Elections - Monday September 17th, 11:00am-1:00pm.
  • Still waiting for ACM on the website.
  • News Listserv is updated.

Director of Public Relations - Mary Soltys:

  • Advertising for meetings is out - working on getting new Freshman in on Thursday.
  • Should have possible T-Shirt ideas for Thursday.

Director of Society Relations - Shannon George:

  • Working with societies to ensure attendance at Society Picnic.
  • Looking for a proxy.

Director of Student Activities - Michele Harpring:

  • Society Picnic - Next Tuesday @ 11:00-1:30pm @ JS.
    • Volunteers needed at 9:00am to help.

Director of Student Affairs - Laura Harpring:

  • Looking at Vogt 311 or JS 100 for Study Jams - Should be happening soon.
  • Still looking for someone to sit on the Diversity Committee.

    • We're asking societies to rework their competitions and hope to do a test run before E-Expo.

  • Assassins code has been tested and is working.
    • Play begins September 24th.

    • Mary suggests we re-order the current 'red' style so that we have a stock.

    • Had a good Turnout for the first one.
    • Need more volunteers to help!

BMES Representatives - Patrick Hoblitzell & Robert Caprera

  • To attend National Conference, BMES Requests $100 from Student Council.
    • Currently, the cost of individual attendance for members is $260
    • This would lower the cost of attendance by at least $15.
  • As one of the newer Societies, attending National Conference would boost the growth of BMES.

  • IEEE has lost RSO Status, needs to be addressed.

  • Cheap Lunch was successful.
    • Generally broke even in costs.

  • We need to ratify the SGA Constitution at meeting Thursday.
    • Changes include a new position, Senate President, and creation of the RSO House of Representatives.

Director of Administration - Travis Cook:

  • Assassins is in full swing. Enjoy!
  • Door Codes will be updated tommorrow.
  • I'll be streamlining office reservation policies ASAP.
  • We'll discuss Office Policies both tonight and at Thursday Meeting?

  • AiCHE Is requesting the maximum allotment of Society Funding, $100, to attend the AiCHE National Conference.
  • Adam Pfendt suggested that AICHE also look to SGA Appropriations for additional funding.

  • Representative from UofL Signature Partnerships will be at Directors Meeting next week.

UofL Signature Partnerships - Dr. Henry Cunningham:

  • Dr. Cunningham detailed the Signature Partnership initiatives, and the role of Engineering in them.

  • Signature Partnerships seek to combat poverty in the state, West Louisville in particular, and generally better the Community.

  • Western Middle School Mentoring program.
    • UofL Students visit the school, befriending the students, and also bring the students back to Campus to show them the University.
    • Student Council has been asked to host a group of students on November 30th and show them Engineering.

President - Dick Jones:

  • AP&P Meeting was today.
    • Looking at Security Clearance for projects and other security measures in labs.
  • Looking at Wing Zone for the next Cheap Lunch.

Vice President - Adam Pfendt:

  • Director's Tasks have been completed and will be passed out ASAP.
