Freshman Council: Lauren Speaker
  • Plan to serve donuts to speed students outside JB Speed May 18th.  Also, having a cookout/ice cream social June 1st.
DOSAF: Jeremy Bozarth
  • Orientation is approaching and we still need volunteers.  I'm meeting Jimmy to finalize times.
  • Orientation video is coming along, I'm meeting with Jared to setup.
  • We'll have an SSSC slideshow projected behind us on stage to show off our events.
  • Will speak to Brenda Hart about Inspire program.
DOSAC: William French
  • Summer sports leagues are set-up.  Sign-up sheets available soon.
    • Looking for volunteers to ref the games.
  • Michael Wagner- Triangle Pres. has ideas for events to co-sponsor with council.
    • Including an inflatable obstacle course at Speed Olympics, Boxing ring, climbing wall.
    • Combine Speed Olympics with a cheap lunch and a Triangle sponsored event.
      • Will suggest to GBM on Thurs.
DOSR: Kara Leeds
  • Orientation game nights will be in Vogt lab.
    • Free snacks/food?  Lobby ONLY.
    • Give away reduced price Council t-shirts, vouchers for those who show up.
    • Video games, board games, Jeopardy, Social events.
  • Society Standing - We could offer a clean slate in terms of good standing for the fall, to try to get societies involved again.
    • How does this affect Quorum?
  • Michael Wagner - UofL, Triangle, and Speed School Networking event.
    • At Reynolds Lofts in June.
    • Free admission, free food, music, etc.

  • German Student visit. - Downs after Dark?
  • "Speed Engineer" Alumni Quarterly Magazine. Will be running a blurb about our awards.
  • "Biggest Loser" challenge interest meeting on Monday.
    • Weigh in 1 on the following Monday.
  • SSSC News Weekly email will go out soon.

  • Waiting on Kent so that I can be added to the accounts.

  • Alumni Council meeting next Tues.  University Club 5:30.
  • E-Expo keynote payment finalized.

  • Talking to ACM about moving the subscription list of Speednews list to another listserve.
  • Will talk to Travis Galt about him managing the LA website.

  • Started work on E-Expo. Using web tool, Many Moon, to manage tasks.
  • 2011 Theme - "On the Shoulders of Giants".
  • Starting on NAESC website as soon as information is available.

  • IBA dinner on Thurs.  Kara will also be attending.  6:30 at University Club.
  • IBA Student lunch.
  • Should we donate surplus funds to LA?

Freshman Council: Lauren Speaker
  • Scheduled Donuts for this morning have been rescheduled.
  • Freshman Council cookout will be June 1st.

  • Needs volunteers for orientation sessions and RSO fair.
    • Emailing time slots, reply with your availability.
  • Awaiting reply from Ariz Cedeno about GSP trip to Bellarmine.
DOSAC: William French
  • Sign-up sheets for summer sports are available on the council office door.
DOSR: Kara Leeds
  • 1st Society rep meeting last Wed.  SAE expressed interest in Society game night.  We promised a projector so they could host it.
  • Societies expressed interest in reset of good standing.  We need to develope a set of regulations for how to handle this.
  • Next meeting is May 26.
DOPR: Lauren Speaker 
  • Ordering new t-shirts soon.  Also, ordering some extra of the old design.
  • Biggest Loser interest meeting went well.  Putting up flyers tomorrow.
  • Waivers going up in front of council office tomorrow.
DOF: Cristina Heisler
  • Snack prices going to change.  Everything will be .50 or 1.00.  No longer will we accept IOU's, pay in advance, or checks.  Sorry.
DOCAR: Allie Bube
  • Alumni council meeting tonight.  She is reporting on our current status.

  • Still awaiting response from ACM president about weekly email listserve.
  • Looking into setting up new LA website.
Vice President: Jared Hatfield

  • Set up meeting with several directors this week to go over E-Expo tasks.  I will continue with more meetings next week until I have met with everyone.
    • I've met with Allie today.
    • I have scheduled times with Lauren and Cristina for later this week.
    • For the rest of you, your times will come very soon.
  • @Jeremy, what  do you think of the council video?
  • We need to start the welcome weekend video ASAP!
  • Seeker is turned back on.  We currently have 17 people playing, hopefully we can get even more people playing.

President: Mike Schoen
  • Attended AP&P meeting today.  Presented our opinion on e-book policy.
    • After discussion it was determined that this would be done in the future, but not immediatly.  Waiting for the technology to catch up.
  • Curriculum committee is standardizing the way depts. handle English 105.  Continued at next AP&P meeting.
  • KY legislature has not yet passed a budget.  If this continues until July 1st.  All govt. institutions will not open July 1st.  Hopefully, this will be cleared up soon.
    • If it is not fixed by June 1st.  State loses $150Million in funding.

Freshman Council: Lauren Speaker
  •  Donuts for Calc students went well this morning.  
  • Going Monday night to purchase food for Tues. cookout.

DOSAF: Jeremy Bozarth
  • We have Orientation groups set up for speaking.  Would like to have more volunteers.

DOSAC: William French
  • George Howe says it will be $40 dollars to rent grills/Tables for Tues. cookout.
  • Found a PA system for ~$700.  We'll be ordering that soon.
  • German student group for this summer has not responded with numbers for who will be here.

DOSR: Kara Leeds
  • We will have a Wii and a few Xbox 360's at game night.  Kara is working on getting questions together for Internet Meme Jeopardy.
  • Society rep meeting tomorrow.
  • Society game night is in question since Alyssa Murphy is against having students cross campus.
  • Donuts are for game night Thurs.

DOPR: Lauren Speaker 
  • Shared a Google Doc News List Summer Email 2.  Please look over and offer suggestions.
  • New Integrand will probably go out tonight.
  • Emailed Tula about t-shirts.  Not ordering hoodies until fall.
  • Will make up $2 off shirt purchase coupons for orientation game night.
  • Biggest Loser sign-up meeting went well.  Campus nutrition expert asked about providing food at the nutrition fact session.

  • Got info for PA system, Table Runner, Pens, and tables.  Working with Jared to spec out a Fridge.

  • Heard back from Nick Knopf, ACM pres.  he is looking into who controls the listserve.  I'm on hold until they can track down their own people.
  • As for the LA website, I assume Travis Cook is handling it.  I do not have admin rights to that database, so I cannot modify it.  For the future a new site is advisable.
  • I'll be mounting the keypad lock on the inner office door once we get the old one removed.

Vice President: Jared Hatfield

  • I met with Kara today about E-Expo planning and I'll be meeting with Jeremy tomorrow.  The big item for the summer is finalizing the the branding for E-Expo 2011.

President: Mike Schoen
  • Discussion of society standing.
  • Dr. Willing is in the University Hospital.  He can have visitors.  Do we want to collect money and get him a card?  Yes at meeting Thurs.
  • Triangle wants to form a committee for Speed Olympics.  Ask for volunteers at meeting.

Freshman Council: Lauren Speaker
  •  Today's cookout went really well.  Plenty of food, vegetarian choices.  Left over ice cream is in the freezer.  Yay!

DOSAF: Jeremy Bozarth
  • I know things have been really busy for everyone and as we enter this second summer term I now have a class that starts at 5:30 and a lot to prepare for before then... so for todays meeting I'm just gonna highlight how the week has gone:
  • Aris has been in touch with me over the trip to Bellarmine (sp?) he said he'd get back to me on times and all that good stuff.
  • Orientation went great Friday, however we seemed to have taken too much time talking to the students, so Jimmy was talking earlier about how to cut time - Jared and Mike, if you haven't already, make sure to talk to Jimmy because he may move around the schedule a bit - oh and Jared the video is awesome!

DOSAC: William French
  • Sports league is up and running.  1st game tonight.
  • German students have not responded to us.  We are still trying to contact them.
  • We need to finalize the IUT to pay for cookout.  $40 to red barn.

DOSR: Kara Leeds
  • Society game night tonight  9:15 to 10:45.
  • SOS'ers have not emailed us back.  Waiting on them.

DOPR: Lauren Speaker 
  • Collected $25 for Dr. Willing.  
    • Will be putting together a gift basket for him at Kroger/etc.
  • Planning to meet and visit Dr. Willing next Tuesday.  Before/after Directors meeting.
  • Adding society standing blog post and putting it in the Integrand.
  • Biggest Loser Weigh-in tomorrow.

  • Mike and Cristina located the Fridge, tables, microwave @ Lowes.
    • Frigedaire $450, Chest Freezer Holiday brand $137.  $45 for 0.9cu.  Microwave 900W.  Table runners ordered today.  Lego Blocks and Pens will be ordered from the same site.  PA system on hold until we get Tax exempt status.  Sams run as soon as Fridge and freezer are running.

  • Alumni council is excited about possibly joining forces with us for Fall Festival.  Possibly Corn Hole tourney.  
    • Ideas for an Alumni cookout in front of Speed?
  • Presenting Keynote ideas next week.

  • Rescheduled 1x1 with Steven.  Allie will present Keynote ideas next Wed.  We want to have e-expo website updated with new logo next week.

    • Remaining funds in our account will be IUT'd to LA.

  • Frisbee starts tomorrow. 
    • Downs After Dark, June 25th.  Admission is $10.  Meet at Council Office @5:30, leaving @6:00p.m.
  • Speed Olympics talks are going on.  We are cooperating with Triangle to host Speed Olympics.

DOSR: Kara Leeds
  • We need to meet with ACM Pres. and  Director of Student Activities (or equivalent) to hash out how to share the fishbowl.

DOPR: Lauren Speaker 
  • We need to appoint a new Speed News Editor.  Brian will be out of the country this fall.
  • Dr. Willing received his care basket.
  • SWE sleepover.  Meet the new freshmen.

DOF: Cristina Heisler
  • We got 10% back on the fridge.  Our blocks have arrived, and the pens are being resent after someone upstairs refused delivery.
  • Spoke to Ron Lile about storing equipment in room next door.

  • Cassie created another version of the E-Expo 2011 logo.  The color that I have in mind is purple.

  • NAESC programming committee meeting Thurs. 17th.  Will be looking for someone else to chair that committee.
  • AP&P meeting for June was canceled.
  • Will be sending out an email this week about the appointments about the standing Speed Committee.

  • GSP trip today.  Finishing the PPT for the trip.

DOSAC: William French
  • Spoke to Triangle on Wednesday about Speed Olympics.The budget for food for Speed Olympics is already covered so we need to decide how to spend the money we have budgeted.  The plan is to have the event be water themed.  The tentative date is for July 15 during the last week of classes.
  • Downs After Dark outing was planned for this Friday.
  • The summer sports league is going good.

DOSR: Kara Leeds
  • There was a society rep meeting last Wednesday where planning for Society Cup would be started.  There will be themed competition days.

DOPR: Lauren Speaker 
  • Still working on the plan to organize the council office.
  • If you have council photos post them to the Facebook page.

  • We will not be ordering the PA system because that would have put us over budget.  The remainder of our budget will be put towards LA.
  • The budget for the GSP trip will be put towards food after the trip tonight.

  • Working on Speed Olympics.  Attempting to contact Drew Cox to iron out plans.

  • Jessica Bagby won the SOSer competition with the most students attending, she will be getting a Gift Card.

  • Welcome weekend video is coming along well.
  • Looking for a room to hold the calc Study Jams.  Probably use JS100 or Vogt 311.
  • Filming for the Welcome video this Sunday.
  • Deans Forum will be scheduled for early Fall Semester.  A second will be scheduled at a later date.

DOSAC: William French
  • Summer Fest has been moved to the lawn near Nat. Sciences.
  • Inflatable obstacle course has been replaced with inflatable sumo wrestling.

DOSR: Kara Leeds
  • William is going to help Kara with Society Cup
  • Societies seem excited about Society Cup, will be willing to help.
  • SAE will be going into good standing as of the Fall semester.

DOPR: Lauren Speaker 
  • Flyers for Summer Fest need to be replaced or removed due to changes.
  • New issue of Integrand will promote Summer Fest.
  • Speed News Editor Applicants;
    • Karl Fleischmann, Rachel Rich, Sarah Pagan, Abigail Wooldridge, Joshua Tucker, Justin Howell, Hannah Gill, Jason Hines, Corey White, Shawn Day, Christopher Klapheke.
    • We will wait for applicants qualifications until Thursday.  At that point the directors will vote on their favorite.

  • Looking for new Hosting provider, to fix Hostgator troubles.

    • Habitat for Humanity, Adopt a Highway, CANstruction, Big Brother/Big Sisters.  
  • Looking for ideas about new events, ways to get Freshmen involved.  Think about things over the break.
