  • Main Task: Planning E-Expo.
    • EDAC Meeting Tommorow at 1pm
    • ESAC Meeting in Sept.
  • NAESC Conference will be October 28-30th.

Director of Corporate and Alumni Relations - Matt McConnell (proxy):

  • University-Wide Career Fair October 19th, SAC Multipurpose Room, 12:00-3:00pm.
    • There will be a SEE Logo at each booth looking for Engineers, as well as fair evaluation forms to fill out

Director of Finance - Joey Gordon:

  • The new shirts were sold to incoming freshman over Welcome Weekend
    • They will also be on sale during Cheap Lunch and Society Picnic. Price: $10

Director of Public Relations - Brian Goessling:

  • Working on combining SGA/SSSC/SSE logos in advertisements.

Director of Student Activities - Matt Stivers:

  • Cheap Lunch will be next Tuesday, 11-1PM. Volunteers Needed

President - Tony Harper:

  • If your a Freshman, you are eligible to be on Freshman Council! See me after the meeting for more details!

  • Other new members, I will email you very soon about Council Retreat.
    • Talk to me if you have any suggestions for a location.
  • I talked to SAB about the society picnic. Volunteers may be needed for cooking, but I'll let you know!

  • Dean Wilhelm & Dr. Haggerty are discussing service learning project
    • More specifically, reaching out to underprivileged middle school students and help get them into the Math and SCience careers, specifically Engineering
    • Hopefully we can get more "fun" activities at E-Expo, specifically geared towards these students.

Vice President - Allison Douglas:

  • E-Expo:
    • Main thing for now is the Corporate and High School mailings.
      • Volunteers needed 11-noon next week to help with the mailings!
      • Sign-up sheet passed around.
    • Date for E-Expo will be March 3rd.

  • Academic Procedures and Policies meeting:

  • Discussed:
    • Disciplinary Action for Classroom Disruptions
      • Issue with students disrupting the classroom.
        • Only punishment available Community Service, the professor in question wants to issue harsher punishment.
        • Professors would now be able to decrease the students' grade, or even ask(force) them to withdraw from the class.
    • Raising minimum ACT score to be admitted unconditionally into Speed School
      • Speed Conditional's go to A&S untill they complete the conditional classes
      • Proposal is to raise the minimum from 23 to 24
  • Freshman Council meeting Tommorow! 3:30 in SSSC Office

Vice President - Allison Douglas:

      • Community Service Event (possibly the beautification of Kersey)

    • The bed race, will be mandatory if you want to be eligible for your society to win the grand prize

    • We want to send whoever wins the bed race to the Derby Festival!

  • Grand Prize will be $150 to the winning society
    • Prize money must be used for an on-campus event

  • NAESC Southeast Regional Conference - Oct. 26-29th
    • Rooms are reserved for the Conference

    • We now have speakers verified for the conference: Two past council presidents, and a memebr of the alumni council!
      • Thanks to Matt McConnell for getting these for us!
    • Still awaiting school registration. Deadline is October 13th

    • All Council Members are expected to be at the conference, since we are the hosting school!

  • E-Expo - March 3rd, 2007
    • ESAC (E-Expo Student Advisory Committee) will meet TOMMOROW at noon in the Student Council office
      • We will be deciding who is going to be joining forces for the high school competitions.
    • EDAC (EDays Advisory Committee) will meet TOMMOROW at 1pm in the ECE Conference Room.
      • We will be reviewing the E-Expo website

  • Homecoming:
    • Joey needs our help in painting a window in the SAC for homecoming.
      • It must have a Homecoming theme, SSSC logo, and cannot feature Joey's name.
      • All paint and such will be provided. Contact Joey to volunteer!
  • Contact Allison if you want to serve on the Parking Appeals or Health Advisory committees.
    • These are university-wide committees.
  • Daniel Tharp has created a SSSC logo, we may be voting on it in the near future.

President - Tony Harper:

  • Council Retreat tommorow at 6:00pm in Vogt 314.

  • Academic Technology Committee Meeting Today:
    • Still working on solving the major issues.
    • Academic Technology plan is due November 17th.

Vice President - Allison Douglas:

  • We never got an updated list from the co-op office with a list of companies to contact for E-Expo, so we are moving ahead with our old list.
    • Please come help stuff envelopes on Friday from noon until when retreat starts in the council office.
  • Tony, Matt McConnell and I met with several alumni representatives on Tuesday evening to discuss modifications to the corporate part of E-Expo.
    • We are going to try to extend the length of corporate exhibits to allow for more time to meet with students.
    • We are going to work on possibly getting some interview rooms setup for the corporate representatives so students can be interviewed on the spot.
    • Also, changes to the judging procedures will be coming in order to speed the judging process to allow students more time to meet with companies.
  • If you want to take on a leadership role with E-Expo, let me know ASAP (preferably via email).
    • I am going to hold a meeting with those students who are interested next Friday (November 10th) at noon in the council office to decide who will take on what roles).
    • I will meet individually with anyone who wants to volunteer, but isn't available at that time.
  • Aside from E-Expo, I am still trying to get some layouts of UofL parking lots so I can redesign the parking spaces in order to create more spaces per lot.
    • I got a response from the parking office, but the information they provided wasn't what I asked for so I'm waiting on the information I need.

  • CECS Department will be moving to Kersey following renovation
    • We are considering attempting to get part of that office.
    • Try to keep the Office clean!
    • We will be reorganizing the office over Christmas Break
    • To be considered for the new office, we must keep our current one clean!
  • Leadership Advantage 2007 planning is beginning this week!

  • Several local high schools want us to give a presentation on E-Expo.
    • We need several volunteers for this!
